The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Electrophysiology (EP)/Cardiac
Device Lab supports patients and physicians in the Heart, Vascular
& Thoracic Institute’s outpatient department. This role provides
specialized nursing care to patients with cardiac arrhythmias and
implantable cardiac devices in ambulatory and inpatient settings.
Key Responsibilities Perform interrogation, interpretation, and
programming of implantable cardiac devices, including pacemakers,
ICDs, CRT devices, S-ICDs, and implantable loop recorders. Monitor
device function and patient status; promptly escalate urgent or
abnormal findings to providers. Apply clinical judgment and
critical thinking to patient care decisions within scope of
practice, using established standards, protocols, and clinical
data. Collaborate with electrophysiologists and the care team to
support safe, efficient patient care. A caregiver in this position
works days from 6:30am - 5:00pm or 7:30am - 6:00pm. No
weekends/holidays. A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic or
therapeutic services to hospitalized patients in various healthcare
settings. Assess patients, complete nursing assessments, document
findings in patient records, and notify physicians of abnormal
findings. Perform telephone triage and call rotations. Perform
nursing procedures and administer treatments and medications.
Establish care plans in collaboration with patients, families and
the health care team. Coordinate ongoing care, identify discharge
needs, and facilitate discharge planning. Evaluate, initiate and
maintain standards of care. Educate patients and families. Cover
other nursing roles in the department. Minimum qualifications for
the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate of an accredited
school of Nursing (ADN or BSN program) Current state licensure as a
Registered Nurse (RN) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
One year of recent experience as an RN or Licensed RN with at least
2 years of LPN experience within the same Cleveland Clinic
procedural department (may substitute for required RN experience)
In areas performing moderate sedation procedures must have current
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart
Association (AHA) Certification within 6 months of hire. Preferred
qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Two years of
recent cardiac experience as an RN BSN (Bachelor of Science in
Nursing) Physical Requirements: Requires full range of motion,
manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires
standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Requires
corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Requires some
exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids. Medium Work -
Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25
pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10
pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand
requirements are in excess of those for Light Work. Personal
Protective Equipment: Follows Standard Precautions using personal
protective equipment as required for procedures. Pay Range Minimum
hourly: $33.50 Maximum hourly: $53.60 The pay range displayed on
this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A
successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after
taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work
history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range
displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g.,
shift differentials, overtime, etc.). The pay range does not
